During Halloween the streets and sidewalks are filled with excited trick or treaters eager to collect as much candy as possible. But before you take your little ghouls and goblins out for Halloween, read our tips for safe trick or treating.

Tip 1. Set a good example by always using a sidewalk (when available) and crosswalk to cross the street.

Tip 2. Instead of masks, which can obstruct vision, use face paint.

Tip 3. If children are allowed out after dark, fasten reflective tape to their costumes and bags, or give them glow sticks and flashlights to help drivers see them better.

Tip 4. Put electronic devices down, keep heads up and walk, don't run, across the street- that goes for adults and children!

Tip 5. If driving, watch for children walking on roadways, medians and curbs. Be sure to enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully and discourage new drivers from driving on Halloween.
